In a freeroam map, you can, as you can expect, roam freely and find collectibles. There is one freeroam map for each location. Choose up to 10 stages from one location to form a rally, customise their order and weather, then compete with AIs in the group you want. Then there you go! Try and see if you can improve your record! Choose a stage, a weather, a group, and potentially a ghost car from for example your personal best or world record. This makes the game significantly more zen and relaxing than most racing games and suitable to casual players. In other words, the competition with AIs and the damage system are there to provide extra challenge for those who seek it. The AIs do not even show when you drive only their time is displayed at the end of a stage. Note that there is no penalty for losing, nor reward for winning. You can also choose several damage levels, from none to severe, and you will be able to partially repair your car after every other stage. There are 5 levels of AI difficulty, the easiest one beatable by even newcomers to racing games, while rivalling the normal one already requires plenty of practice. Playing through the career mode will unlock all playable cars in game and their bonus livery. The rallies and the stages are semi-randomly chosen from the pool of 42 stages, in order that the difficulty curve is gentle and that you naturally get acquainted with all locations and all weathers. You will experience the golden era of rally, from 1967 to 1996, through group 2, 3, 4, B, S, and A, for a total of 200+ stages. This is the mode to play through in order to see the credits roll. Therefore, the game has a great deal of replayability. + with over 50 cars, each with different handling physics, all based on iconic cars in the history of rally, ranging from group 2 to group A + under 6 weathers: morning, afternoon, sunset, night, fog, and rain (or snow in Norway), although only rain/snow change the physics of handling, while night and fog only diminish visibility of the stages, and the other three are purely cosmetic + in two directions: default and reversed Each of the current 42 stages (from 7 locations) can be raced: The length varies, but a stage typically takes 3-5 minutes to finish.

Each location offers 6 stages and a freeroam map.

The last two came as free updates after release, and the 8th one is being developed. I fully recommend it to casual gamers and racing game players alike.Ĭurrently the game has 7 locations: Finland, Italy, Norway, Germany, Japan, Kenya, and Indonesia. Tl dr: Although arcade-y looking, Art of Rally is a rather hard-core rally racing game that is at the same time challenging (due to its semi-realistic physics) and relaxing (for the excellent synthwave soundtracks and gorgeous low-poly scenery).
